    Frequently asked questions

    What is creatine?

Creatine is a natural substance made by your body from amino acids. Most of it is stored in your muscles, with smaller amounts found elsewhere in the body, including the brain.

Its main role is helping your cells recycle energy when demand increases. Your body produces creatine naturally, and you can also obtain it from foods such as meat and fish. Supplementing provides a simple and consistent daily amount without relying on diet alone.

Creatine is not a protein, stimulant, hormone or steroid.

    What does creatine actually do?

Creatine helps replenish one of the body’s most immediate sources of cellular energy.

It is best known for its role in physical performance: creatine increases physical performance during successive bursts of short-term, high-intensity exercise when taken at 3g daily.

But creatine isn’t only present in muscle. The brain also has considerable energy demands, which is why researchers are studying creatine in areas including brain-energy metabolism, memory, cognition, mental fatigue and healthy ageing.

Is creatine only for body builders and serious athletes?

No. Creatine became famous through bodybuilding and sports nutrition, but it isn’t exclusively for people lifting heavy weights or training competitively.

It can fit into the routine of recreational exercisers and adults who simply want to remain active. You don’t need a gym membership or a bodybuilding goal to take it.

We think creatine should be seen as a well-researched nutrient for active living, not something reserved for the weights room.

Can i take creatine if i don’t exercise regularly?

Yes. You don’t need to follow an intensive training programme to take creatine.

Your body uses and stores creatine regardless of whether you visit a gym. Even without exercise, creatine supplementation will increase the creatine stores in your muscles. This means your muscles will be better prepared for future physical activity, should you decide to start exercising. Creatine can help reduce muscle breakdown, which is beneficial for
muscle maintenance, especially as you age or during periods of inactivity.

What is the difference between creatine and creatine monohydrate?

Creatine is the name of the substance itself. Creatine monohydrate is the specific form most extensively researched and most commonly used in supplements.

You may see alternative forms promoted as newer or more advanced, using words like "micronised," but creatine monohydrate remains the established choice. We didn’t believe the ingredient needed reinventing. We believed the quality, solubility, and transparency surrounding it could be improved.

That is why Well.Actually. uses QURA® creatine monohydrate. A truly 'micronised' creatine monohydrate, not just a word we apply to make it sound good, proven to be good.

What makes well.actually. qura® creatine different?

QURA® is creatine monohydrate produced to an exceptionally high standard.

It is at least 99.95% pure, ultra-soluble and neutral in taste. It contains no fillers, flavourings, sweeteners or unnecessary ingredients. Every batch is independently tested, including testing for substances prohibited in sport.

Each pouch also has a batch-specific QR code connecting you with the laboratory analysis associated with the product you purchased.

Scan it. Check it. Know what you’re taking.

Isn’t all creatine monohydrate basically the same?

The active ingredient may carry the same name, but the finished products can be very different.

Raw-material quality, purity, particle behaviour, solubility, taste, manufacturing standards, independent testing and traceability can all vary.

QURA® allows you to access sports drug testing and purity data associated with your actual batch.

When a supplement contains only one ingredient, the quality of that ingredient matters even more.

Does qura® creatine completely dissolve in water?

QURA® has been developed for exceptional solubility. Depending on the serving size, volume and temperature of the water and how thoroughly it is mixed, it can almost fully dissolve, creating a noticeably clearer and smoother drink with minimal residue.

Many conventional creatine monohydrate powders make water look cloudy, remain gritty and leave undissolved powder at the bottom of the glass. QURA® is of an exceptional quality.

For the best result, mix one level 3g scoop into a generous glass of water and stir or shake well.

What does qura® creatine taste like, and what can i mix it with?

QURA® is unflavoured with a neutral taste. It won’t add sweetness or a strong artificial flavour to your drink.

You can mix it with water, juice, squash, a smoothie or another cold drink. It can also be added to a drink you already have as part of your normal routine. Because it disperses so effectively, it fits easily into your day.

How much qura® creatine should i take?

Take 5g (approximately one and a half level scoops) once daily.

Some people new to creatine take only 3 g, while others take more

The scoop included inside the pouch measures a 3g serving.

Taking more doesn’t automatically mean getting better results. For most people, the important thing is taking the recommended amount consistently.

Is creatine suitable for women and older adults?

Yes. Creatine works in the same fundamental way regardless of your age or sex. Women and older adults use the same creatine energy system as younger men and athletes.

As we get older, staying active and maintaining muscle become increasingly important. Creatine can be a useful addition to an active lifestyle that includes regular movement and strength-based exercise.

Research interest is also expanding beyond physical performance into areas including women’s health, menopause, cognition, brain energy and healthy ageing. These are developing areas of research, but they help explain why creatine is no longer seen as something made only for young men in gyms.

How can i be sure your creatine has actually been tested?

Recent independent testing has raised concerns about some creatine products, and in particular gummies containing significantly less creatine than stated on their labels and, in certain cases, virtually none. This highlights why transparency matters. Independent testing reported by WIRED found that four of six popular products tested contained almost no creatine.

It is also easy for a brand to say its creatine is “tested” without explaining what was tested, who carried out the testing or making the results available.

Our Qura® Creatine is manufactured in the Netherlands, has a purity of at least 99.95% and undergoes independent quality and anti-doping testing. Scan the yellow QR code on the front of the pack to access the testing information and see the evidence for yourself.

Whatever form of creatine you choose powder, capsules, or gummies and look beyond the word “tested” or "purity level". Choose a brand that is prepared to show you the proof.

How long does creatine take to work?

Creatine doesn’t usually produce an immediate sensation. Without a loading phase, your body’s creatine stores build gradually through consistent daily use.

How quickly someone notices a difference will vary according to their starting creatine levels, diet, activity and individual response. Some people may notice changes within a few days; others within a few weeks. Consistency over time is key.

Does creatine cause weight gain, bloating or bulkiness?

Creatine, for a very small minority of people, can cause a modest increase in body weight because it draws water into muscle cells. This isn’t the same as gaining body fat.

High-dose loading phases are more likely to be associated with digestive discomfort or temporary bloating.

Creatine also won’t suddenly make you bulky. Visible muscle growth depends on factors including resistance training, nutrition, genetics and time. Taking 3 - 5 g doesn’t transform someone into a bodybuilder.

Can’t i get enough creatine from food?

Creatine occurs naturally in meat and fish, but the amounts are relatively modest and vary considerably between foods.

To obtain approximately 3g of creatine from food, you would need to eat around 600–700g of raw beef or a substantial quantity of fish. Cooking may reduce the amount of creatine retained.

A QURA® Creatine 3-5 g serving delivers consistency without needing an enormous steak or plate of fish every day. QURA® is manufactured without animal-derived ingredients, making it suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
